Biography

Carole was born on January 16th 1957 & was a native of the Glen, Kinsale, Co. Cork.

There were several paramount influences in her Artistic life.

The first was a Sketch book of drawings her father Pete created in his leisure time. This made Carole appreciate the importance of good draughtsmanship.
She attended the Crawford Municipal School of Art and soon developed a fascination for painting miniature watercolours  which require great skill .
Quote –“ I have a fascination with detail” She acknowledged the influence of her former tutor Helene Casey in this field of painting.

Barry Moloney, the former director of the Crawford,  also encouraged her  & was so impressed by her work that he officially opened one of her one woman shows at the Former Cork Arts Society, Lavitts Quay Gallery. Carole exhibited in several one woman shows, & many group shows throughout her career, & was also a recipient of various grants from the Arts Council of Ireland.

She also taught painting & drawing for many years in the greater Kinsale area ,and influenced  a generation of students to appreciate the wonderful world of visual Art.
Quote –“In all my classes I try to encourage & develope each persons skill & imagination,and try to have a new theme or subject for each week”
She was also renowned for her drawings of local Kinsale characters.

The work displayed is only a partial sample of her opus , as many of her drawings & paintings were purchased at exhibitions and are now in public & private co;llections.

Carole passed away on December 7th 2010 at the age of 53.
